GEO Systems Engineer

Astroscale U.S. Inc. is currently seeking a GEO Systems Engineer to join our team in our Denver, Colorado location.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Mission, system and operational concept development for GEO satellite on-orbit services and missions, including space and ground segments.
  • System level design of GEO space systems across all phases of projects, including requirement analysis, sensitivity analysis, and mission analysis.
  • Lead, agree and justify mission design trade-offs.
  • Mission and system level requirements management, through to verification and validation.
  • Lead technical discussions with the customer relating to the delivery of the mission and on-
    orbit service.
  • Manage, support, coordinate, and drive the successful delivery of a GEO satellite system and / or subsystems from partners, vendors, collaborators and other Astroscale entities.
  • Apply technical knowledge to drive the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering
    problems, including future applications, and engineering developments.
  • Support the wider team in all required regulatory and insurance discussions for a GEO mission.
  • Prepare technical responses to bids, presentation materials and reports, for a variety of
    applications and customers.
  • Support and actively participate in customer and supplier meetings and presentations
    during the bid and negotiation process, and at all project stages.
  • Liaise with customer and supplier staff, and staff from other parts of Astroscale.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical
    discipline from an accredited institution, with 10 or more years of engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the GEO satellite system life cycle, including designing and analyzing space and ground segments to the subsystem level.
  • Knowledge and experience of the GEO telecommunications industry.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and tools, including for example the STK toolset.
  • Understanding of fundamental requirement management for system qualification.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft level environmental testing, launch, and commissioning.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Possess a level of ITAR/EAR experience sufficient for safe inter-country data exchanges
  • Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
