Astroscale U.S. Announces Summer Intern Program
Astroscale U.S. Inc. is excited to announce our Summer 2021 internship program! We are seeking interns across space policy, marketing and communications, engineering, and strategy. Please see the below descriptions for each of these opportunities. All summer internships are paid and nominally run from June to August; they may include either in-person or virtual presence.
Astroscale is the first private company with a vision to secure the safe and sustainable development of space for the benefit of future generations, and the only company solely dedicated to on-orbit servicing across all orbits.
Founded in 2013, Astroscale is developing innovative and scalable solutions across the spectrum of on-orbit servicing missions, including life extension, in-situ space situational awareness, end-of-life services, and active debris removal, to create sustainable space systems and mitigate the growing and hazardous buildup of debris in space. Astroscale is also defining business cases and working with government and commercial stakeholders to develop norms, regulations, and incentives for the responsible use of space.

Policy Intern
- You will be involved in mining, digesting, and organizing information on space policy, regulation, legislation, and best practices in the U.S. and throughout the globe.
- You may be called upon to create or edit documents and presentations as well as attend hearings and events on behalf of Astroscale U.S.
- You will also engage with student and young professional societies to support the communication of the issue of space debris and space sustainability.
Marketing & Communications Intern
- You will research, write, and edit marketing and communications material such as social media content, web content for SEO, press releases, scripts, pitches, etc.
- You will research and provide recommendations on new marketing and communications methods and tools.
- You will identify opportunities and support existing and new relationships with media outlets/personalities, marcomms-oriented student and young professional organizations, and other relevant groups.
- You will support and improve media monitoring and databases, content calendars, and other PR management tools.
Engineering Intern(s) (Denver Office)
- You will be involved in mechanical modelling (SolidWorks) and design of our service vehicles and the development of scale models.
- You will work with the engineering team to build an understanding of the orbital environment.
- You will be involved in setting up and running simulations, and preparing presentations, representing service concept of operations.
- You will have the opportunity to work with the senior engineering and advanced system teams to research advanced technology related to rendezvous, proximity, and operations in Earth orbit.
Strategy Intern
- You will gain a market and technical understanding of the on-orbit service industry and how to build market analysis and insights with incomplete data and limited benchmarks.
- You will be involved in building pricing models – supply-side versus demand-side.
- You will support the development of complex financial models and business cases.
- You will engage in strategic thinking and strategy development.
Qualification & Skills
- Current student studying for a degree related to your internship.
- Coursework, training, or experience related to your internship.
- Fantastic communication skills: oral and written.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, design, etc.).
- U.S. person or U.S. citizen.
