ELSA-d Mission Update
We have a brief update on our End-of-Life Services by Astroscale-demonstration (ELSA-d) mission.
The ELSA-d servicer and client continue to orbit, safely separated from each other. While we finalize next steps for the mission, we are using the ELSA-d servicer to learn more for our future missions and services by:
- Performing sensor calibrations to apply to our programs in development, such ADRAS-J (launching in 2023) and ELSA-M (launching in 2024).
- Doing experiments to understand how changes in attitude can change air drag properties, which is essential knowledge for all future Astroscale proximity operations in LEO.
- Capturing more imagery in orbit.
We will also have new details in papers being published on ELSA-d’s operations and on the mission as a space situational awareness campaign for the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) — stay tuned for release at the conclusion of IAC! #GoELSAd
